Administrator FAQs
- How long does it take to get my W IZDOM environment up and running?
Your WIZDOM Web environment will be configured and ready for you to create courses within 3 days of us receiving a signed contract.
- Can I customize my WIZDOM Web environment?
Yes, you can. We place your logo in the application, and on the login page. You can also add links and additional information for your trainees to the login page. We can configure your WIZDOM Web database to include custom data fields to support your business needs. The Certificate of Completion that is awarded to all trainees upon successful completion of a course is also customizable.
- What are the system requirements for using WIZDOM Web LMS?
An internet connection and a standard web browser. That's it.
- Does WIZDOM Web LMS support self-registration by trainees?
Yes. Trainees can register from the login page by clicking on the "REGISTER" link. After completing the form, trainees receive an email with their User ID and Password.
- Can training reports be imported into Excel?
Yes. Every report created in WIZDOM Web has a link to download it as a tab-separated file. So, you can import the data into any application that accepts .csv format.
- Can I setup my organizational structure in the system?
Yes. WIZDOM Web LMS allows you to define locations and location levels, departments, job titles or nothing at all. The application works equally well for organizations with just a few people and for companies with thousands.
Administrative functionality is governed by privileges assigned and by place in the organizational structure. Administrators can only view and edit data that is in scope. For example, location administrators can only access data for their own location.
- Does the WIZDOM Web LMS support languages other than English?
Yes. The WIZDOM Web LMS was designed to support multiple languages, including Asian character sets. So far, we have only deployed the application in English. If you are interested in adding support for another language, please contact us.
Manager & Instructor FAQs
- What question types are supported?
The WIZDOM Web LMS's integrated assessment engine supports all the standard question types:
- Multiple choice (single and multi-select)
- Fill in the blank
- Ranking
- Free form
- Likert scale
- Can I embed multimedia in my questions?
Yes, you can embed multimedia (images, video, audio) in any question, response, or piece of feedback.
- Can I restrict users from changing their answers to previous questions?
Yes, the assessment engine supports both sequential and random access navigation modes. Sequential mode only allows the user to move in a forward direction. Random access mode allows the user to move both forward and backward and also presents a menu to allow jumping to any screen.
- What kind of feedback can be presented to the user?
Feedback can be generated at a number of levels in an assessment. You can define custom rules to specify what feedback is generated at the question level, section level, or assessment level.
Feedback can be presented either immediately after answering a question, at the end of the assessment, or not at all. You can choose how much scoring information to display to the user once they have completed an assessment.
- Can the questions and/or responses be displayed in a random order?
Yes, the assessment engine can randomize the order of the questions and/or responses so that each instance of a test is different (to discourage cheating).
- Are question banks supported?
Yes, the assessment engine supports loading question banks. Assessments can then be constructed that draw questions from the question banks.
- Are Training Certificates available to trainees?
Yes. After a trainee has successfully completed a training course, a Certificate of Completion is automatically generated. Trainees can access their certificates at any time, by going to My Course History.
- Does W IZDOM include a Course Catalog?
Yes. You can include or exclude courses from the Course Catalog at your discretion. Trainees can self-assign courses from the catalog at any time.
- What type of content does the WIZDOM Web LMS support?
The WIZDOM Web LMS allows you to create your own courses as well as import off-the-shelf and legacy courseware. You can create courses that include standard web content such as HTML text, images, animations, voice over, and videos. Courses can also link to files such as spreadsheets, PDFs, or Zip files. The WIZDOM Web LMS also supports off-the-shelf courses in SCORM or HTML formats.
- Can I automate training reminders?
Yes. Course Managers determine when training reminders should be sent to trainees, how often they should be sent, and at what point the reminder should be escalated to a supervisor.
- Can I include external links in my training materials?
Yes, you can include anything that can be displayed in a web browser. External links are displayed in popup windows, so the trainee doesn't lose the context of the web course. You can also link to popup pages that you create and upload as part of your training content.
- Can courses expire?
Yes, courses include an optional expiry date that allows you to create courses that must be taken before a deadline.
Trainee FAQs
- What happens if someone loses their internet connection in the middle of an assessment?
The assessment engine tracks status as the user pages from screen to screen. If someone loses their internet connection in the middle of an assessment, they are able to resume right where they left off.
- Can people suspend tests and resume them at a later time?
Yes, the default setting of the assessment engine is to allow users to be able to suspend assessments. When they resume them at a later time, they continue from the screen they left off.
- Can I include Flash, audio clips, video, and simulations in my online courses?
Yes. You can include any web compatible object in your online courses.
- How do I specify the language on the self-registration page?
In EKP 3.2, you are able to specify the language for the self registration page by adding the LANG parameter. This is done by adding it to the URL. For example: 'http://www.yourekpsite.com/ekp/servlet/ekp/selfregistration?LANG =1'
- Does WIZDOM Web track the number of times a test has been taken by a trainee? Can the result be published on the reports menu?
Yes. EKP stores all instances of all tests and can be reviewed by instructors, administrators, and the user himself in the training history. These instances can be printed from the training history screen. However, a current canned report summarizes the tests rather than showing each instance for a specific user.
- Does WIZDOM Web record chat sessions?
Currently, a user's current history may be recorded while they are in a session, but we do not trace all communications.
- Can one print Discussion Threads?
Yes, by using the normal browser print functions (e.g. Right click to PRINT).
- How does WIZDOM Web track the number of attempts a trainee makes when a course is taken?
EKP keeps count of the number of times a course has been launched. It is available through the User training history/transcript review/ functions and can be viewed in various reports.
- How does WIZDOM Web publish customized certificates after a course has been taken?
If a certification is associated with a course, there is usually a certification test as well. If the user achieves the passing score on the certification test, he/she is automatically awarded the certification (with an email sent as well). This certification is added to the user's list of certification in their training history; it is also shown on various reports that detail users who have achieved certain certifications.
- How does WIZDOM Web control the number of attempts made for an evaluation?
It is a system option to restrict the user to 1. By default, it is unlimited (at the request of some of our other clients).
- Does WIZDOM Web have a Suggestion Box?
Not directly, but we have had clients that renamed the "Contact Us" mail reply form to "Suggestions", and others who use the Discussion Forum for similar purposes.
